R.I.P. Randy Redinger

Today I have found out that my boss (well, one of them) died of a heart attack. It's so weird to think that he's gone! I just saw him yesterday!! We even joked about like normal.

I guess he was just sitting in his chair resting when he went. I wish I could say that I know for sure he's in heaven. The truth is I don't think he is. The Bible makes it clear how to get to heaven. We need to realize we are sinners and accept God's free gift of salvation. Randy never made a profession of salvation. Of course, I cannot know for sure until I get there, but I hope Randy got things right with God before he went to meet Him.

I have to say, learning of Randy's passing made me stop and think. When was the last time I witnessed to him??? Other than random comments here and there (as he tended to be very liberal and left winged in his agenda), I couldn't remember when. Another coworker and I will often engage in spiritual/religious conversations on friendly terms. But with Randy, it was different. He was so convinced that he was right, that you couldn't get through to him.

This just serves to be a lesson to me that you can never know when someone will no longer be there. You must be ready and able to give a defense of the hope you believe in with meekness and fear. Also, I need to be able to share the hope that God gives us through salvation to everyone that I know at any time.

This is too many deaths in such a short time! We lost Duke earlier this year. Then my grandma died on April 3. Since then, we have lost 2 dogs and 1 cat. I know they are just animals but animals become part of our family. It's hard none the less. I'm begging God to stop the loss around me!!!

God gave Randy over 60 years on this planet. He lived a wonderful, full life and had a wonderful, loving family. I have enjoyed working under Randy and Aaron Redinger for these 7 and some years and will miss the charm that only he could bring to Saturdays. I will continue to pray for the family in this very hard time.

So I went down to Ankeny this last weekend to take my exam. When I got there Friday I met a very nice man named Officer Jonathan Rogers. Apparently I was speeding in a school zone (which I honestly had no clue about) so I got a ticket. He was very nice and apologetic about the whole thing. God, however, used the experience to humble me. How many times do I catch myself on the interstate knowingly going 80 mph and still don't get caught?? And the ONE time that I speed without knowing it is the ONE time I get a ticket. How ironic is that? =)

But with that escapade over; Julie, Hannah and I went shopping. I have never had so much fun shopping in my life!!! I wish I would have brought my camera to capture the event, but I didn't. It was so fun!!!

Then on Saturday, I took my test at 1:00 p.m. and. . . . . I PASSED!!! It was a more difficult test than I thought it would be but it's over!  And I passed! =)

The rest of the weekend I spent with friends, church family, etc. Overall it was a relaxing weekend, and now it's back to the real world. Honestly, it was fun and sad at the same time – fun to see all my friends but sad that I was not there with them.

God has a plan and a purpose for me that I have yet to figure out. I am so excited for what he has in store for me next!  =)

My New Lens!!!

So I just recently bought a new lens. It is a 55mm fixed lens and is AMAZING!

Since I have been studying this week, I have not been able to take it out much but here are a few pics I took with it. Some are original and others have been played with. =)

I am looking SO forward to actually having time to play with the lens more.

Sister for Hire

I found out today that my sister wants to get a Chinchilla for a pet. We used to have one but, as all animals do, he died. I'm not even sure if she remembers him. At any rate, she wants one. She would even buy it with her OWN money! But alas; she doesn't have enough. So I mentioned that she could do chores for a price and earn some money that way. Mom just chuckled and said, "Out of your pocket, I assume." And thus my sister became my servant. I could have been really mean, but I wasn't. I gave her chores like cleaning the table, unloading the dishwasher, making her bed, etc. Most of the jobs will gain her $0.25 per time. In the end, she might be bringing that Chinchilla home sooner than she thinks if she is dedicated to working for a few weeks. =)

One Week

I know I haven't written in several . . . ok months, but this must be a quick note because I have a lot to do.

This is the beginning of my one week off to work on getting my technician's license. I have taken one whole week off to work on the online practice stuff that my boss, Aaron, has given me to do. It's an amazing program and extremely detailed. . . but that makes it very long and tedious. Oh, well. =)

The plan is to work on the online stuff this week and get that all done. Then I'll review all the next week to take the exam that Friday.

I still need to get signed up for the exam. Aaron gave me a couple of websites but that was a while ago. I found a website that I signed up to take the test. All that is left in that area is figuring out where I can take it. I would love to take it in Ankeny so I can see friends that weekend too, but we shall see. haha So pray that I can figure all that out and pass the test the FIRST time. =)
